The Flow Studio content just released their full Len’s Island 2023-2024 roadmap in a blog post leading us to the full release of Len’s Island in July 2024. This Len’s Island Roadmap Overview will provide a summary of the contents of this blog post.
In total there are an expected 4 major releases starting on November 22nd and finally in July-August 2024. The four major updates are as follows:
Harvest Moon Overview
The Harvest Moon update is being released on November 22, 2023 and with it is coming new content, mechanics, and even some returning content from previous patches.
Resource Mining Outposts
Len’s Island will be introducing 4 new resource Mining Outposts located on 3 new island being added to the procedural terrain generation.
- Small & Large Lumber Mills
- Mining Quarry
- Metal Refinery
These outposts will be purchasable – presumably from one or many of the NPCs across Len’s Island’s three islands.
Each of these outposts when purchased will automatically farm resources for you when owned. I expect they will function like the Mining Quarry functions today. Giving the mining quarry fuel enables the quarry to mine resources for you to pickup at a later date. However, in this update the outposts have been expanded. Unlike the mining quarry today, the resources mined by the outposts will automatically be synced with your storage! You won’t need to revisits the outposts to retrieve your riches.
Furthermore the outposts will be subject to the new Harvest Moon Event which will boost your outpost production significantly.
Harvest Moon Event
The Harvest Moon Event is a new optional event being added to Len’s Island. Another key point is this event will occur every 7-10 in-game days and when it does your outpost output will increase. Unfortunately, this comes at a cost. During this event your outposts will come under siege by waves of enemies. Fortunately, the Flow Studio team has given us the means to protect ourselves by providing both the Ballista Tower and player-aimed cannons to defend our towns.
Generally, it appears the team has added a whole new tower defense mechanic to the game which they will expand upon in future updates.
Town Advancement System
The town advancement system will be making its return to Len’s Island. Each of the three towns will have 3 available upgrades. Each upgrade level will improve the aesthetic and function of the town and eventually unlock a portal system enabling you to teleport between towns.
Building Updates
Lastly, the building system will be revamped with a slew of changes:
- Buildings will now have health and be destroyable (A new hammer will be added to repair damaged structures)
- The foundation placement system has been improved to enable more complex and easy building
- The building height restriction of 5 levels has been increased to the global height of the world enabling MUCH taller structures
- You’ll soon be able to move Len freely when in the building and edit mode
Oh and they’ll be adding Rabbits!
Languages Overview
The Languages update is planned for December 2023 and is lighter on in-game content but will be adding some wonderful accessibility features
Accessibility Features
- Len’s Island will be made available in simplified Chines, Spanish, and potentially German with more languages planned for the future
- Full Steamdeck will be provided for the steamdeck owners out there
New In-Game Content
- Sheep, a Loom and a new resource, Silk will be added to farming
- Glow bugs and a new resource will be added to the caves in addition to improvements to the aesthetic of the procedural caves
- A new buildable double bed and new high-end decorative blueprints will be introduced
Frozen Lands Overview
The Frozen Lands update coming in March 2024 will introduce a brand new arctic winter biome and include the 4th Act to the main story progression of Len’s Island. Details associated with this update are minimal but they did still provide some enticing nuggets of information:
Len’s Island players can expect the following in the Frozen Lands update:
- New boss and keystone network
- New enemies, animals, resources and items
- Brand new tool/weapon upgrade tier – Damascus Steel
- New Kantana Weapon
- Expansion of the base mechanic systems
- A sled vehicle for navigating the snowy biome
- New temperature survival mechanic & greenhouse build pieces to enable farming in the arctic biome
Full Release Overview
The final update covered in the Len’s Island Roadmap Overview is the full release of Len’s Island is planned to fall in the range of July to August 2024 – however, the Flow Studio team did clarify that these dates are subject to change. The details associated with this release are only high level at this stage but they did highlight 3 major deliveries associated with this patch.
- Act V Release: The fifth and final act of the main Len’s Island story will be released as part of this update
- Co-op Multiplayer: A multiplayer mode is being added enabling players to join friends in their Len’s Island playthroughs!
- Hardcore Mode: A new hardcore mode is being added for those serious players looking to test their skills
